“The Real Story” Positive changes in Iraq video — Glenn Beck
I just changed the channel to CNN (because my beloved Da Vinci’s Inquest was an episode I’d already seen). Glenn Beck was on, and I generally like him. He’s a dork, and a funny one at that, and has quite an independent mindset. Immediately, there was an amazing video “essay” of all the positive effects that have been taking place in Iraq as a direct result of the Coalition Forces’ efforts. I kept myself braced, waiting for the “….but” to creep in, and for the tone to change to something more cynical or negative. It never came. It’s a GREAT little video, and you should see it. (It’s only 2 min 45 sec.)

Wow! This video was great! Thanks so much for posting something so uplifting. Every day you hear horrible stories about Iraq and it’s not all like that- it’s about time someone else told the truth! Thanks a lot!!
I liked this video, too, and my thoughts of Glenn Beck mirrors yours. My husband is in the military and will be in Iraq this December (unless things change there, or with the future presidential change), I love how many of his peers let us mere mortals know the true story. My only concern for Iraq is this: if our school systems fall short here, what is it we are helping to establish there? Do you think they have nothing-so anything is good? Personally, I’m sure it must be good. There are girls who are probably attending and that wasn’t always the case. Also, I have learned in my experience as a former gymnastics’ coach: just because I cannot do a triple full doesn’t mean I can’t help you make yours better. LOL Anyway, thanks for sharing the video. It’s a refreshing change. Take care and best wishes, Teraisa J. Rogers
I want to thank you — I’m a 16 year old girl who happens to adore Glenn Beck and hold him in very high esteem. In a futile attempt to find something NICE said about him i searched “Glenn Beck”.
What a misteak! I had managed to forget that most of his critics were bloggers, and found nothing but hatemongering and haughty language. So i tried “Glenn Beck positive” and found this post of yours; in effort to better understand what kind of blog posts you wrote i read a few more of them and all i have to say is that i will continue to come back! Your views are very similar to mine, and the description you have of your family reminds me of a youth pastor i once had who gave me my first NIV Bible. Okay hope that incredibly long comment didnt bother you haha =]
Keep holding on, Vivien!! It can be really hard to swim against the flow… with non-liberal views, Christianity, etc… but keep thinking for yourself, and keep checking your beliefs against the Word of God to make sure it lines up. I was ridiculed for a long time for what I believed and stood for, but eventually, there comes a turning point where people admire you for the stands you take, and wish THEY had the strength of character to do the same. (For me, that took place after my first year of college — no lie. Freshman year was hard, after that, people didn’t care to tease me… So, you’ve got about three years of tough sledding ahead! Don’t lose heart!)
I am a Marine veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. All I see here in the news is death and destruction and how our soldiers are dying for a failed war. That could not be any further from the truth. I was in the AL-unbar province in Iraq in 2006-2007 when the fight was very intense. After about 4 or 5 months, most of the fighting and bombs had stopped and peace was sweeping over the land. Markets were opening up and the people for once were not afraid to walk out in the street. While I was in Afghanistan, I was in the desert in the south. The markets there were dead silent when we first arrived because there was an enemy stronghold on the area. After a few months, we cleared it out and people started coming out. The market started opening and eventually flourished. I was there when a school was opened up…..mind you that this school was burned down by the taliban…their own people!!!
It was nice to see things getting better and to see the people gaining hope and being able to do more without the fear they were so used to. I really like this video and how it shows the positive outcomes of the war instead of always seeing the bad. Thank You for posting this and showing the good that has come of all of this.
Thank you for your service, Samuel. You were part of some good work!!
