Teach ‘em to pray July 3, 2008

Usually, once a month, our church puts together a video, showcasing a particular area of ministry. This past Sunday was about children’s ministry, in particular, the kids ages 6-12, which we call SuperChurch. It highlights both kids praying for other kids, and the Holy Spirit moving, especially in the last few weeks.
It’s an 8 minute video… I am greatly biased, but I think it’s fantastic.
It features my son Grant fairly prominently. The video says he’s 9, but he’s only eight. For another month or so, anyways. I was sitting next to Nancy, my pastor’s wife, when the video aired, and I said, “Oh, he’s only eight.” And she replied, “No, he’s not.” She wasn’t being argumentative; I knew exactly what she meant; he’s always acted/seemed much older than he is. Well, except for his breakdowns/fits, but that’s not on this video. 
My 11yo son, Ethan, is on there, too, in great need of a haircut. I’m on there, very fleetingly, leading worship.
A few weeks ago, I blogged about my ideas for introducing a song that would be new to the kids, but actually, nearly 20 years old, called Unending Love. At first, I was gung-ho, but then, I had my doubts, but I decided to go ahead and do it. I had the kids sit down, close their eyes, open their hands, and just listen to it, and be ministered to by the Spirit, the first time we went through the song, instead of looking at the words, trying to learn it… just letting the team sing over them. The footage of the kids sitting and really receiving from the Spirit?? Well, it was that time, listening to that song. I’m so glad I listened to the leading of the Father, took a risk, and went for it.
