Well, bummer.

As longtime readers may know, I occasionally review products on here.  Most of my reviews are ones I just choose to write, of my own volition.  Occasionally, though, I’m contacted by a company that wants me to review their products.  Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.  I’ve never been paid in money, though I have received a few free products in the mail before.

Recently, though, I was contacted by a company that wanted me to review its website, which I visited.  It looked great!  I e-mailed the guy who had contacted me with a few questions.  Satisfied with his answers, I was all set to write a glowing review and collect the $75 promised to me.  I had visions of a new high chair dancing in my head (after four kids and 11+ years, ours has finally bit the dust).

Then, I talked to my hubby, who encouraged me to investigate the site just a bit further to make sure it was in line with our values.  And… wouldn’t you know.  With a wince, I did a search for “adult” products.  The search returned 160 results.  Ugh.

No matter how stellar the good parts of the website are, I just can’t recommend or link to a site that sells, links to, or receives a portion of its income from p*r^*gr@phic materials.

I’ll have to find a more moral way to buy that high chair.

About Karen Joy

I'm a partially-homeschooling mother of six -- 3 boys ages 19, 17 and 15 years old, and three girls: 11, 8, and 3. I like birding, reading, writing, organic gardening, singing, playing guitar, hiking, the outdoors, and books. I very casually lead a very large group of homeschooling families in the Phoenix area. I have a dear hubby who designs homes for a local home builder and who is the worship pastor of our church. I live in the desert, which I used to hate, but now appreciate.

  1. Gotta love those wise hubbys! God will provide…remember the jumpy thing?!

  2. I am so proud of you Karen, for sticking to your (our!) beliefs and not promoting that nasty stuff. I know God will provide you for the high chair you need. I wish you lived close by, I’d give you the one I no longer need!

  3. It’s a good thing you double-checked, huh! God is smiling on you for that and He will take care of the needs you have another way. 🙂 Way to go, Karen!

  4. I’m with the others. Good job listening to your dh and checking into the company further. I’m sorry about the “loss” of the money, but God ~will~ provide. 🙂

  5. Good for you (and hubby) Karen. I know that a big blessing has gotta be coming your way soon!!

  6. That is a bummer.

And to parrot everyone else: May you be blessed in other ways [smile].
